Functional Nutrition Tailored for You

Your Consultation - What Does It Involve?

Your Consultation - What Does It Involve?
Contrary to what we see in the media, there is no single functional nutrition diet. Instead, the right dietary strategy for you is the one that’s designed to address your specific health concerns and needs. Based on the principles of functional nutrition, it is very important to get a detailed overview of your health history and your current concerns.

Before your first visit, I will ask you to fill out a detailed nutrition and lifestyle questionnaire. The information that you provide allows me to prepare for your consultation in advance and maximize the time available during the actual consultation. I will also ask you to send me your recent medical records and lab tests (not older than 18 month).

Detective work: The first visit is usually a very extensive intake session, taking 1.5-2 hours. I would like to learn as much as I can about your current complaints and health history, as well as your specific goals. Sometimes functional tests and/or nutrigenomic testing may be recommended. They are extremely helpful to get a better picture of your underlying health issues or triggers and facilitate the development of a targeted and individualized nutritional program.

You Can Feel Great When You Know How to Support Your Body and Mind

You will receive detailed explanations about why certain dietary and lifestyle factors may contribute to specific issues, as well as a step-by-step nutrition and lifestyle plan to get you on a path to better health. Based on your specific issues and the results of your functional tests, dietary supplements might be indicated to boost your nutrition program. If you are on a specific medication, drug-nutrient interactions will be evaluated. However, the long-term goal will always be to stay healthy and happy without any kind of supplements and use food as your medicine.

How Many Consultations Will You Need?

This is strongly dependent on your individual concerns and goals. Follow up visits are usually much shorter, taking 45 minutes. We will check your progress and may adapt your program based on how you are feeling. In between the appointments, I will do regular check-ins via email, WhatsApp, or phone to keep you motivated and answer questions that might come up. I will be there for you throughout your journey to better health.

Keep in mind that functional nutrition isn’t a one-and-done event. Instead, it is a dynamic process where you will continuously adapt your diet and lifestyle until we find what works best for you. Success comes from having a conversation with your body. It is important to become aware of how it responds to different factors, so that you can continuously set yourself up for better success.

Is Functional Nutrition a Good Fit for You?

Functional Nutrition is a good fit for you if you:

  • Are ready to take charge and are looking for a true, long-term solution.
  • Are committed to do the work to overcome your health issues, even if it may involve significant changes to your diet and lifestyle.

  • Are looking for someone who takes time to understand your struggles and is highly dedicated to helping you to reach your health goals.

  • Want to learn how to better listen to your body.

Functional Nutrition is NOT a good fit for you if you:

  • Are looking for a quick fix.
  • Are not ready, willing, or able to make dietary or lifestyle changes.

  • Blame other things for your health struggles.
